Our stock fabrics are prepared for printing and dyeing through controlled desizing, scouring, and bleaching, with no added sizings, finishes, or resins. Each lot is validated in our lab for weight, width, pH, dye affinity, and overall continuity with previous production. When any characteristic shifts outside expected tolerances, the change is documented and communicated. The International Antimicrobial Council (IAC) is partnered with Testfabrics, Inc. to support testing
laboratories around the world with consistent access to reliable standard untreated reference control fabrics. (SRC). Each of the IAC Certified Control SRC fabrics have been tested at the IAC using various odor absorbing and antimicrobial test methods. Through this partnership, labs can source well defined,
reproducible, SRC fabrics specifically suited for use in antimicrobial and anti odor test methods. IAC Wool Standard Reference Control Fabric does not contain any finishes, resins, binders, softeners, dyes, antimicrobial treatments, or anti odor treatments. This fabric was selected by the IAC because of its known odor absorption profiles and because microorganisms can survive and behave predictably on the surface of this wool fabric substrate, under controlled test conditions.
The joint collaboration between the IAC and Testfabrics, Inc. eliminates uncertainty around untreated fabric sourcing because the IAC tested each lot of SRC fabric and approved only those materials with observed background microbial growth and odor absorption capabilities. Using IAC certified SRC fabrics ensures that labs worldwide are working with the same baseline materials when generating antimicrobial and anti-odor performance data. Laboratories that regularly conduct antimicrobial and odor control testing should implement SRC Fabrics as part of their testing programs to improve testing accuracy, reproducibility, reported data, and results. This approach also helps to give confidence to the customer that their treated articles deliver reliable performance and accurate claims.
