AATCC 9 Step Chromatic Transference Scale

    $560.00 / Scale

The AATCC 9-Step Chromatic Transference Scale is an evaluation scale used to assess color loss, color transfer, and color staining in AATCC test methods.

  • AATCC Gray Scale For Staining

    AATCC Gray Scale For Staining

    $344.00 / Scale

The AATCC Gray Scale for Staining is designed to visually evaluate the degree of color staining from a tested textile to an adjacent material.

The scale consists of a series of gray chips arranged in numerical steps, each representing a visually perceptible difference in staining rating from 5 (no staining) to 1 (severe staining).

  • AATCC Gray Scale For Color Change

AATCC Gray Scale For Color Change

    $344.00 / Scale

The AATCC Gray Scale for Color Change is designed to visually evaluate the changes in color of textiles resulting from colorfastness tests.

The scale consists of nine pairs of gray chips, which illustrate color differences and provide a corresponding fastness rating from 1 to 5, with 5 indicating excellent color retention and 1 indicating poor retention.

The AATCC gray scale measures color change. One half of each color chip pair is the same color as the untested specimen before colorfastness testing. The second half of the color chip ranges from the starting color (no loss of color) to white (loss of all color). The amount of contrast between the tested fabric and untested fabric is related to one of the pairs of gray color chips on the gray scale for color change.

  • ISO Gray C (ISO Gray Scale for Color Change)

ISO Gray C (ISO Gray Scale for Color Change)

    $251.25 / Scale

A gray scale is used for visually evaluating the colorfastness of textiles. There are two types of gray scales. one for assessing color change and another for assessing staining. The Gray Scale is an essential tool for textile product developers and manufacturers, as it helps determine the suitability of fabrics for specific applications based on their colorfastness. The ISO Gray Scale for Color Change consists of nine pairs of colored chips, 5, 4-5, 4, 3-4, 3, 2-3, 2, 1- 2, and 1, which illustrate how much a fabric’s color changes due to external factors like washing and exposure to light as described in ISO 105-A02. The result of a colorfastness test is evaluated by visually comparing the difference in color between the original (un-tested) and the tested specimens with the differences represented by the gray scale number grading. The color change grade is equal to that of the gray scale pair that is judged to have the same color difference. Results are reported as a gray scale for color change grade of 5 to I, with 5 representing no color change and 1 representing the most color change. This tool helps manufacturers determine whether a fabric will maintain its color over time under various conditions.

  • ISO Gray S (ISO Gray Scale for Staining)

ISO Gray S (ISO Gray Scale for Staining)

    $251.25 / Scale

A gray scale is used for visually evaluating changes in color of textiles resulting from colorfastness tests. There are two types of gray scale. One for assessing color change and another for assessing staining. The Gray Scale is essential for textile product developers and manufacturers, as it helps determine the suitability of fabrics for specific applications based on their colorfastness. The ISO Gray Scale for Staining is tool used to measure any unintended staining and color transfer on a 1 to 5 scale according to ISO 105-A03. This scale helps determine whether a fabric will bleed or lose its color over time and under various conditions. The grey scale consists of nine pairs of non-glossy grey and white colored chips showing the grade of staining. These give a corresponding fastness rating of 5, 4-5, 4, 3-4, 3, 2-3, 2, 1-2, 1. ISO Gray scales for staining are used to assess the amount of staining occurring on adjacent undyed fabrics during fastness tests.  The transference of color from the test specimen to an adjacent specimen is evaluated using five standard pairs of color chips. One half of each standard is white, and the second half ranges from white to gray. The bottom half of each color chip pair shows the untested starting color. The top half shows the color of the adjacent fabric after testing. A value of 5 corresponds to virtually no staining, whereas 1 indicates poor color-fastness.

  • Stainless Steel Balls 6mm (.25”) in diameter for accelerated laundering tests

Stainless Steel Balls 6mm (.25”) in diameter for accelerated laundering tests

    $44.25 / Box

The stainless steel balls are primarily used in color fastness to laundering textile test methods. The balls act as mechanical agitators inside closed laundrometer cannisters, and they simulate the tumbling, rubbing, and abrasion of a home washing machine. The steel balls represent the impact force caused by buttons and zippers in a normal home laundry load.

  • Synthetic Rubber Balls (9-10 MM)

    Synthetic Rubber Balls (9-10 MM)

    $94.50 / Box

White Synthetic Rubber Balls (SBR) are 9-10mm in diameter (3/8”) and have a  70 durometer hardness. They are used in AATCC test method 61 part 1B. Test 1B is for evaluating textiles that are expected to undergo repeated hand launderings at cool temperatures. The white rubber balls helps to replicate 5 careful hand launderings at 80 (+/-5) degrees Fahrenheit. The synthetic rubber balls are recommended instead of the stainless steel balls because they provide gentler levels of mechanical abrasion and friction during the accelerated laundering test. They more accurately simulate the low friction abrasion used in mild laundry hand washing. Rigid stainless steel balls can be damaging to delicate textiles. Rubber balls cushion the impact while still tumbling and flexing the fabric.
