AATCC Red 40 Stain Scale
The stain resistance of pile floor coverings to acid food colors is determined by using AATCC Test Method 175, Stain Resistance: Pile Floor Coverings. The residual color left on the pile floor covering is evaluated using the AATCC Red 40 Stain Scale. The depth of the stain is visually compared to the ten step stain scale and given a rating.


The ISO Adjacent Polyester is a plain weave, medium weight, polyester fabric. It does not contain any finishes, resins, binders, softeners, or dyes. It is used as a polyester single fiber adjacent fabric in ISO 105 tests. It conforms to the specifications outlined for adjacent fabrics and polyester in ISO 105-A01 and F04.
Adjacent fabrics are undyed cloths used in colorfastness testing for the assessment of staining. The general principal of the color fastness tests involves a specimen of a textile to be tested with the adjacent fabric attached to it. Any staining that occurs on the adjacent fabric after the test is evaluated.
